Three Nashville residents are summer Ivy Tech-Columbus graduates

Three Nashville residents became graduates of Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus following the summer 2009 term.

Nicole Bowman received a technical certificate in medical assisting, Shannon Brunton received an associate of arts in liberal arts (cum laude), and Genevieve Day received an associate of science in nursing (cum laude).

The term cum laude indicates a grade point average between 3.50 and 3.74.

Four Nashville residents named to Ivy Tech-Columbus Dean’s List for summer session

Genevieve Day, John Hertz, Jerome Kantor, and Elizabeth Kelley, all Nashville residents, were named to the Dean’s List for this past summer term at Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus. The College names to the Dean’s List any degree-seeking student who has accumulated 12 or more earned credit hours, is enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours during the term involved, and earns a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Ivy Tech-Columbus awards 447 degrees

Ivy Tech Community College will hold its 39th Commencement at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 9, at Franklin Community High School. This will be the first year that the event will be held in Franklin; the College has outgrown both Columbus East and Columbus North High Schools. Ivy Tech officials are excited to hold the event in Franklin, especially because Ivy Tech now has a campus in Franklin. Ivy Tech enrollments increase 14% in Brown County

Ivy Tech Community College enrollments in classes held in Brown County have increased 14% this spring semester over the same time last spring semester.  On the first day of spring semester, 2008, the headcount was 89; on the first day of this semester, it was 102.

The Columbus campus of Ivy Tech as a whole has experienced a 47% headcount increase over last year at this same time.  On the first day of spring semester, 2008, the headcount was 2,974; on the first day of this semester, it was 4,383.

“Ivy Tech is continuing to experience record growth due to a number of factors:  the tremendous demand for associate degrees with transferable credits, giving students an affordable start to a four-year degree, the desire to upgrade skills to improve marketability, the increased number of programs offered, and the increased awareness of the quality of our faculty and services,” said Dr. John Hogan, Chancellor of Ivy Tech.  “We look forward to continuing to serve the residents of south central Indiana to the best of our ability.”
