Fifty-three graduates of Ivy Tech Community College’s Licensed Practical Nursing and Associate of Science in Nursing classes were pinned during a special pinning ceremony, held on December 15, 2011, in the auditorium of Columbus East High School. Six Decatur County residents were among those receiving pins, including Sasha Kreutzjans and Stephanie Larison, residents of Westport, and Christina Banks, Brandyn Flynn, Rachel Redmon, and Rebecca Schwering, all of Greensburg. Headcount in Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin classes in Decatur County is up 47 percent this fall semester as compared to last fall at this same time. Five Ivy Tech-Columbus students from Decatur County inducted into Phi Theta Kappa

Five Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus students who are Greensburg residents were recently inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two-year college students. Students inducted are Amanda Adams, Brandyn Flynn, Kimberly Gorman, Benjamin Griner, and Megan Johannigman.
Phi Theta Kappa is the only nationally acclaimed honor society serving two-year colleges offering associate degree programs. Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa currently operates with 1,250 chapters in the United States and abroad. Membership is extended by invitation only. To be considered, a student must be enrolled in a regionally accredited institution offering an associate degree, have accumulated the number of hours used by that college to designate full-time status, have completed at least 12 hours of course work in courses leading to an associate degree, have established a grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 point scale, have established a record of academic excellence as judged by the faculty, be of good moral character, and possess recognized qualities of citizenship.

106 Decatur County residents named to Ivy Tech-Columbus Dean’s List for fall semester

A total of 106 residents of Decatur County were named to the Dean’s List for this past fall semester at Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus. The college names to the Dean’s List any degree-seeking student who has accumulated 12 or more earned credit hours, is enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours during the term involved, and earns a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
