Full-day program explores secrets of great customer service

COLUMBUS, Ind. (2/15/12) – Disney Institute is bringing its renowned professional development program, “Disney’s Approach to Quality Service,” to Columbus on May 3.  Sponsored locally by Ivy Tech Corporate College, the full-day event will demonstrate how anticipating and reacting to customers’ needs, wants, and emotions is an integral aspect of delivering quality service and achieving business results.

Ivy Tech receives grant for equipment for vision-impaired at University Library

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin has received a grant for $8,353 for the purchase of equipment for the vision impaired, to be used in the University Library of Columbus in the Columbus Learning Center, according to Julia Stumpff, Ivy Tech Director of the University Library.  The grant was received from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Indiana State Library.

Ivy Tech Corporate College offers Management Supervisory Institute program

Ivy Tech Corporate College will offer a Management Supervisory Institute program in 15 eight-hour sessions over a four-month period, from April 10 until July 17. Classes will be held on Tuesdays, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., at the Advanced Manufacturing Center for Excellence (AMCE), 4444 Kelly Street, Columbus, near the Ivy Tech campus. The cost is $2,995 for the first person, $1,500 for the second person from the same company. (more…)

Ivy Tech launches graduation coaches program
Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin, in cooperation with Cummins Inc., Community Education Coalition (CEC), Bartholomew County School Corporation, and Flat Rock Hawcreek School Corporation, will launch a three-year pilot graduation coaches program in the fall of 2012.

Cummins has provided $500,000 and the CEC, $250,000 to fund the pilot. Ivy Tech will provide in-kind services, including managing the program and supplying several of the graduation coaches. (more…)

Working with people, not statistics

If I asked you to do a word association with the word “poverty,” you would likely respond with a word like “money.” Using Ruby Payne’s work as a foundation, Ivy Tech Community College employees are learning that poverty, or “the extent to which an individual does without resources,” impacts eleven different resources. Locally, we are focusing on five of these as a first step to improving student success: knowledge of hidden rules, integrity/trust, relationships/role models, support systems, and financial status.

Ivy Tech taking registrations for summer classes

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin is now taking registrations for summer classes. The 10-week summer session begins on Monday, May 21. The eight-week session begins on Monday, June 4. Classes in Franklin are offered at the Franklin Campus on McClain Drive.

Two concurrent books and profound views of American life. The current show at the Gallery of Fine Arts & Design displays the beautiful photography from New Harmony Then & Now, and A Home of Her Own, both published by IU Press. Darryl Jones has been an instructor of photography with Ivy Tech for over twenty-five years. Kendall Reeves graduated from our Visual Communications program in the mid 1980s.
