Ivy Tech and YES Cinema partner to offer Clusterflix Film Festival

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin students who are members of the Clusterflix Film Club and officials of YES Cinema are co-hosting the Clusterflix Film Festival for the community.  The festival is scheduled for Friday evening, December 9, at YES Cinema.

Jonathan Wilson honored for 35 years of service to Ivy Tech

Jonathan Wilson, Dean of the Schools of Education, Fine Arts & Design, Technology, and Applied Science & Engineering at Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin, was honored at the faculty and staff annual retreat, held at Factory 12 Event Loft on September 30. 

Wilson’s first position, chairman of the photography department, began in 1976.  During his tenure, he moved from department chair to program chair to division chair to dean.  His responsibilities as dean expanded to include four different schools, and he has been active in the expansion of the visual communications, interior design, agriculture, hospitality, education, and mechanical engineering programs within the college.

Ivy Tech-Columbus/Franklin approved to offer expanded degree and certificate offerings in information security

The Indiana Commission for Higher Education has approved the Technical Certificate in information security to be offered in a traditional, face-to-face format by Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin and has approved the Associate of Applied Science in information security to be offered as an online degree option. This degree has, for the past three years, been offered in a traditional format at the Columbus campus. Students may now take the AAS degree in any format (online, face-to-face, or hybrid).

The Associate of Applied Science in information security prepares students to work in areas related to information assurance and computer security. The certificates are designed for students currently working in the computer industry to enhance their knowledge of information and network-related risks and their avoidance and resolution. Major employers include computer and data processing companies; wholesale and retail trade companies; universities and colleges; and federal, state, and local government agencies.

Ivy Tech Gallery of Fine Art & Design to host exhibit by Laura Knorr and Mark Braught

The Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin Gallery of Fine Art & Design is hosting an exhibit by children’s book illustrators Laura Knorr and Mark Braught until December 15. The public is invited to attend the artist reception from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28 in the gallery; hors d’oeuvres will be provided by the Ivy Tech culinary department. (more…)

Ted Dawson receives Leaving a Legacy Award from Ivy Tech

Ted Dawson, recently retired member of the Board of Trustees of Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin, received the Ivy Tech 2011 Leaving a Legacy Award during a special ceremony held at the college on October 18. Begun in 2005, the Leaving a Legacy luncheon is an event whose purpose is to bring dedicated retirees and current staff together to keep in touch and to honor retirees for their generosity with their time, treasure, and/or talents for the good of Ivy Tech students. John Roberts, Andrea Quick, Nichole Nolting to present at national conference

John Roberts, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences at Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin; Andrea Quick, Director of McDowell Adult Basic Education Center; and Nichole Nolting, Adult Education Coordinator for McDowell Adult Basic Education Center, will give a presentation titled Springboard: Access to Success at the National Council for Student Development on October 22-25 at the Inverness Conference Center & Hotel in Denver. The National Council on Student Development is an affiliate council of the American Association of Community Colleges, dedicated to serving the needs of student development professionals in the community college.
