Fifty-three graduates of Ivy Tech Community College’s Licensed Practical Nursing and Associate of Science in Nursing classes were pinned during a special pinning ceremony, held on December 15, 2011, in the auditorium of Columbus East High School. Twelve Bartholomew County residents were among those receiving pins, including Amy McCrory and Niki White, residents of Hope, and Haley Brown, Megan Hurt, Stephanie Lancaster, Susan Lollar, Sarah Pool, Timothy Hughes, Teresa Sluys, Gwendolyn Swartzentruber, Brandy Todd, and Miranda Weber, residents of Columbus. Ivy Tech-Columbus/Franklin to hold Adjunct Recruitment Fair

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin will hold an Adjunct Recruitment Fair from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, and Wednesday, October 5, at the Columbus Learning Center. Interested individuals are invited to bring a resume and meet with program chairs in a variety of disciplines, including accounting, architecture, astronomy, biology, business, chemistry, communications, computer technology, hospitality, design, education, English, English as a Second Language, history, humanities, math, nursing, physics, political science, psychology, and sociology.
Candidates teaching program-level classes must hold a master’s degree. Instructors teaching remedial classes must have a bachelor’s degree. Transcripts are helpful but not required at the fair.

Ivy Tech-Columbus awards 624 degrees

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin will hold its 41st Commencement at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, at Franklin Community Middle School. A total of 624 degrees and certificates will be awarded to December 2010, May 2011, and August 2011 candidates for graduation. The majority of graduates are residents of the Ivy Tech-Columbus/Franklin service area, which includes Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, and the southern portion of Johnson Counties.
Career Expo offers opportunity to meet potential employers

Ivy Tech Community College – Columbus, IUPUC, and the Purdue University College of Technology will host a Career Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, in the Columbus Learning Center. Students, alumni, individuals interested in transitioning into a new career, and individuals looking for employment due to job loss are invited to attend. More than 40 employers plan to attend in order to meet and talk with potential future employees. (more…)
Resume Café scheduled at Learning Center

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus, IUPUC, and the Purdue University College of Technology have scheduled a Resume Café from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm on two days: Tuesday, March 9, and Wednesday, March 31. The event will take place at the College & Career Exploration Center, located in the Columbus Learning Center.
The public is invited to learn from personnel in the College & Career Exploration Center what type of resume is best for them, how to format and polish a resume, how to write a cover letter, and how to handle interviews. Questions about resumes, interviews, and careers will be answered. Students of Ivy Tech Community College, IUPUC, and the Purdue University College of Technology are also invited.
Interested individuals are encouraged to bring a jump drive, resume paper, drafts of previous resumes, and employment and education history. This Resume Café is in preparation for the Career Expo, scheduled for Tuesday, April 13, at the Learning Center.
The College & Career Exploration Center, staffed by professionals from Ivy Tech, IUPUC, and the Purdue College of Technology, was established to help individuals across south central Indiana develop informed and attainable plans for success in higher education and careers. Housed in the Columbus Learning Center, the department is a clearinghouse that provides learners with accessible information and advice about colleges and careers.
