Ivy Tech offers Welding Institute in Scottsburg

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin is offering a Welding Institute in Scottsburg, beginning in January.  The institute is a 40-week program that includes instruction and hands-on lab activities.  Classes meet 30 hours per week (six hours per day).  The institute focuses on technology, with math, reading, and writing exercises embedded in class projects.

After completing the program, individuals will earn a Technical Certificate in Industrial Technology and will be prepared to test for certifications, administered by the American Welding Society and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, that are valued by employers.  The Welding Institute is designed to accelerate individuals to a career; however, credits can be applied toward an Ivy Tech Associate of Applied Science degree.

Students will have no homework, due to the intensity of the program.  All assignments will be done in class.  Much of the training provided will be in the new state-of-the-art welding lab at the Mid-America Science Park in Scottsburg.

Individuals are encouraged to apply now, since the class is filling up.  Classes begin in January.  To apply, call 812-374-5167.
