Ivy Tech Community College is observing its 50th anniversary this year as Indiana’s largest public postsecondary institution and the nation’s largest singly accredited statewide community college. Various celebrations are being held at its 31 campuses, located in 14 regions of the state. One of the events to be held at Ivy Tech – Columbus/Franklin will be a Founder’s Day celebration, to which the public is invited.
The event will be held in Poling Hall (the main Ivy Tech – Columbus/Franklin building on Central Avenue) on Thursday, March 14, from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m. Remarks will be made by Dr. John Hogan, Ivy Tech – Columbus/Franklin chancellor; Bob Garton, former vice president of professional development at Ivy Tech Community College; Barb Garton, who served as a trustee for the Columbus Region for an unprecedented 24 years and as chair of the board for three terms; and Jonathan Wilson, dean of the Schools of Fine Arts and Public & Social Services, and an Ivy Tech – Columbus/Franklin faculty member for 37 years.
