Ivy Tech Community College will hold its 40th Commencement at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, at Franklin Community Middle School. A total of 585degrees and technical certificates will be awarded during the ceremony. The majority of graduates are residents of the Ivy Tech-Columbus service area, which includes Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, and the southern portion of Johnson Counties.
Ivy Tech-Columbus Chancellor John Hogan will preside; President Tom Snyder will address the graduates and confer certificates and degrees. Danielle Brandon, Executive Director of Resource Development, will award an honorary Associate of Science in Community Service degree to Bill DeMichieli, a resident of Franklin, for his commitment to furthering post-secondary education opportunities for the citizens of the State of Indiana through his support of the Sandy and Bill DeMichieli Nursing Scholarship and through his generous donations to the Ivy Tech Foundation to support the expansion of the Franklin teaching site.
Dr. Jay Moseley, President of Franklin College, will be the guest speaker. David Rust, president of the Student Government Association, will give the charge to the class. Outstanding graduates will be honored, as well as the student recipient of the Hari Mirchandani Community Service Award and two students named as members of the 2010 All Indiana Academic Team.
