Ivy Tech – Columbus offers tuition-free course

Ivy Tech Community College – Columbus is offering a tuition-free course of up to three credits this coming fall semester for 2010 high school graduates and GED recipients who complete their studies in Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, and the southern portion of Johnson Counties. Tuition will be free; students will be responsible for books, technology fees, and other applicable fees. Students may take any course offered by the Columbus region, and it must be taken during the fall 2010 semester.

Students are encouraged to enroll early in order to reserve a seat in the course in which they are interested. “This is the fourth year we’ve offered recent graduates a free class at Ivy Tech,” said Chancellor John Hogan. “We’ve found this is a great way for graduates to get their feet wet and discover the benefits of taking college classes locally.”

High school graduates must provide verification that they graduated from one of the schools in the Ivy Tech-Columbus service area, including the counties listed above, and follow the normal (free) admission steps in order to receive the tuition-free course. GED recipients must have tested with an official ACE testing center in the Ivy Tech-Columbus service area, must provide verification that they are a GED recipient, and must also follow the normal admission steps in order to receive the tuition-free course. Students must name the Columbus campus as their home campus.
