Ivy Tech-Columbus offers G.E.D. Merit Scholarship

The Columbus Region of Ivy Tech Community College will award one scholarship to a top scoring G.E.D. recipient pursuing full-time study in the Columbus Region for the 2010-11 academic year. The scholarship, in the amount of $1,000 ($500 per semester for the fall and spring semesters), must be used during the 2010-11 academic year.

Eligible applicants are G.E.D. recipients who plan to enroll at Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus, who have earned a G.E.D. with an Average Standard Score of 550 or higher, and who earned their G.E.D. through one of the following institutions: Atterbury Job Corps, the Brown County Career Resource Center, Greensburg Community Schools, Hoosier Youth Challenge Academy, Jackson County Education Center, Jennings County Adult Education Center, McDowell Adult Education Center, or Seymour Community Schools. Applications are available at these institutions.

Selection criteria also include recommendations, extracurricular activities, and a short essay stating educational and career objectives. Selection will not be based on financial need. The completed application and necessary recommendations must be submitted to Ivy Tech-Columbus by Friday, March 19, 2010.
