Sponsors, silent auction items listed for Ivy Tech-Columbus’ “Run for the Ivy” event

Sponsorships are being offered for Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus’ “Run for the Ivy,” a fund-raising event to support scholarships and programs for Ivy Tech-Columbus students. Of the four sponsorship levels, two have already been spoken for: Centra Credit Union will be the sponsor for the Kentucky Derby Level at $1,200; Zeller Insurance will be the sponsor for the Belmont Level at $350. Two sponsorships are still available: the Triple Crown Sponsorship at $2,500 and the Preakness Level Sponsorship at $750.

Many silent auction items have been donated, including an overnight stay at The Inn at Irwin Gardens, an overnight stay at the Louisville Courtyard by Marriott and two Louisville Zoo tickets, six reserved box seats for Churchill Downs and six museum passes, two tickets and parking for the Indianapolis Zoo, two tickets for Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, and two tickets to the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. Other silent auction items include an Ernie Banks autographed Chicago Cubs jersey; a Bob Gibson St. Louis Cardinals autographed jersey; an autographed, framed, 11” x 15” “famous catch” photo of Willie Mays; an 8” x 10” color, framed, autographed photo of Stan Musial; and an 11” x 14” framed, color, autographed photo of Cal Ripken Jr.

The event will take place on Friday, January 22, from 6:00 until 10:00 pm, in the Community Building at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $40 per person, $75 per couple, and $300 per table. Patterned after the annual Derby Day races, Run for the Ivy will involve video-taped races with renowned announcers. Guests will use Ivy Tech Bucks to bet on the horses of their choice and watch the races while enjoying hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and live jazz music performed by Columbus East High School Jazz Ensemble.
