Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin will sponsor its second annual “Run for the Ivy” event for the public from 6:30 until 10:30 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2011, in the Community Building at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $40 per person, $75 per couple, and $300 per table of eight. All proceeds will support scholarships and programs for Ivy Tech-Columbus/Franklin students. (more…)

Indiana Beekeeping School slated for January 14, 15 at Ivy Tech-Columbus

The 14th Indiana Beekeeping School will be held across the state via an Internet broadcast on January 14 and 15, 2011. The class will be beamed to Columbus, Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Terra Haute, and Lafayette. At Ivy Tech-Columbus/Franklin, the class will meet in Room 314 in the main building. Rob Green, founder of the Indiana Beekeeping School, will discuss the importance of and methods involved in beekeeping during this two-day course. He will also discuss Colony Collapse Disorder, focusing on the damage due to declining bee populations. (more…)

Ivy Tech-Columbus offers grant-funded training in Motoman robotics operation and programming

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus has received a grant from the Department of Labor for the purchase of Motoman robots and for training 200 people to learn to operate and program them. Without the grant, the training would cost $1,500 per person. Motoman is the leading manufacturer and supplier of industrial robots and factory automation systems in the world. The training will introduce students to the basics of programming and will provide hands-on experience. No prior knowledge of robotics programming is required. (more…)
