Robert “Mike” Hall, member of the Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus board of trustees from 1993 until 2006, posthumously received the Ivy Tech-Columbus 2009 Leave a Legacy Award during a special ceremony at the College on October 29. Owner of a family farm in Seymour, he represented the agricultural sector on the board of trustees. His wife, Ruth, and daughter, Katie, were on hand to receive the award in his honor. The award is given annually to a current or former member of the faculty, staff, or board of trustees who makes a significant contribution of any kind to the Columbus campus.
Hall was praised for his concern for the needs of students, insight offered to the board of trustees, and dedication to the Ivy Tech-Columbus campus. “Two goals that he had,” commented Chancellor John Hogan during the award presentation, “were the start of a program in agriculture at the campus and for Ivy Tech-Columbus to have a significant presence in Seymour. He would be pleased that we have been able to meet both of those goals.”
