Ivy Tech-Columbus agriculture students Aaron Borden and David Rust receive FFA’s highest honor

Ivy Tech-Columbus agriculture students Aaron Borden and David Rust received the American FFA Degree at the 82nd National Future Farmers of America Convention in Indianapolis on Saturday, October 24, 2009. The award is the highest honor that can be achieved as a member of the national FFA organization, according to Matthew John, chair of the agriculture program at Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus. It recognizes demonstrated leadership abilities and outstanding achievement in agricultural business, production, processing, and service programs.

“Less than one in 154 FFA members advance through their local chapter and state FFA programs to earn this national honor. Achieving this recognition is yet another indication that Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus is attracting the best of the best students for our agriculture program,” John commented.

The Associate of Science in Agriculture was offered at Ivy Tech-Columbus beginning in the fall semester of 2008. All credits earned in this degree program transfer to the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture program at Purdue University. The program includes general education courses, professional/technical courses, and specific courses in the concentration of crop production.
