Book cover design by Ivy Tech-Columbus student Kayla Straw selected for publication

A design created by Kayla Straw, a second-year Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus visual communications student, has been selected as the cover for the poetry chapbook titled Night Duty, by Dave Seter. (A chapbook is a small book or pamphlet containing poems, ballads, stories, or religious tracts.) The book will be published by Main Street Rag, a publishing company based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Straw’s design was chosen from designs submitted to Main Street Rag by the Ivy Tech digital production students this semester. Although many of the designs made the initial cut, Straw’s solution remained the top contender through the process, according to Nina Lisowski, program chair of the visual communications department.
