
Julie Bilz, Ph.D., has accepted the position of assistant professor of education at Ivy Tech-Columbus. In this position, she will be responsible for student advising, recruitment, retention, maintaining records, and teaching such courses as Child Development, Families in Transition, and Computers in Education.
Bilz received a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction, with a specialty in teacher education, from Walden University in Minneapolis; a Master of Science in educational leadership from Indiana University; and a Bachelor of Science in secondary education from IUPUI. Prior to accepting the full-time position, she served for five years as an adjunct faculty member in the English, advanced skills, and education departments. She was instrumental in the “English as a Second Language: Hope as a First” program, an outreach program to Hispanic students at Columbus North High School. She has also served as a student advisor at Ivy Tech and conducted seminars and workshops in various areas of teaching methods.
