Janet Burton Receives the Academic of Medical-Surgical Nurses President’s Award

We extend our congratulations to Janet Burton on receiving the Academic of Medical-Surgical Nurses President’s Award.

This award is given in recognition of service to the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN).  It is given to an individual who consistently volunteers his or her time and has made significant outstanding contributions in the AMSN achieving its strategic goals.

The aware criteria include the following.  An individual:

  • Consistently volunteers his or her time in a creative, efficient manner.
  • Has served in a leadership role in the organization. 
    • Janet’s current leadership roles currently include:
      • Editor of MedSurg Matters! (AMSN Newsletter);
      • Item writer for the AMSN national Medical Surgical Nurses’ Certification Exam;
      • Chair of the Position Statement Task Force.
    • Janet’s past leadership roles include:
      • Local chapter officer;
      • Member of the AMSN Education Task Force;
      • Chair of the 2007 AMSN National Conference in Las Vegas, NV;
      • Author of The Respiratory System chapter in the AMSN Core Curriculum for Medical-Surgical Nursing.
  • Has made outstanding contributions to AMSN
  • Exemplifies the mission and values of AMSN

Janet was nominated by an individual within the AMSN Board of Directors.
