Dr. Michael Siegel accepts position of dean of the School of Health Sciences at Ivy Tech-Columbus

Michael Siegel, Ph.D., has accepted the position of dean of the School of Health Sciences at Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus. In this position, he will provide leadership and community relations/outreach for the School of Health Sciences and be responsible for curriculum and program development, enrollment management, resource allocation, staffing, advising and student success, and instruction.

Siegel earned a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, College of Medicine, Department of Immunology and Medical Microbiology, and a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He was involved in postdoctoral training at the Virology Laboratory, Immunology Unit, at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Retina Foundation in Boston and in the Department of Pathology, College of Medicine, at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Siegel’s experience includes the positions of associate professor of microbiology, program director of the physician assistant program, and associate academic dean of the School of Podiatric Medicine at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida; associate professor of immunology and medical microbiology at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine; and instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Harvard Medical School. He has presented his research regionally, nationally, and internationally and has co-authored numerous publications in the fields of medical virology, medical immunology, and embryonic development.
