Michael Auterson, Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus adjunct faculty member in history, will present a paper at the 25th annual Ohio Valley History Conference, scheduled for October 2-3 at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. The title of his presentation is “The 1856 Slave Insurrection Panic and Its Impact on the Cumberland Iron Region: A Reassessment.” This will be Auterson’s eighth conference presentation since 2001.
Auterson also serves as the Ivy Tech-Columbus representative for the Statewide Distance Education Curriculum Committee and for the Statewide Curriculum Planning Committee. He was selected for an Organization of American Historians stipend to attend a workshop in Bloomington in 2008 and was selected for a National Endowment for the Humanities grant for the HEH’s Landmarks in American History Community College Instructor Workshop, The American Lyceum and Public Culture in Boston in 2007. He received the Women’s Studies Essay Contest Award in 2002 and the Arts and Sciences Summer Fellowship in 2001.
