
Wendy Cain has been promoted to program chair of the science department at Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus. In this position, she will be responsible for supervising departmental full-time and adjunct faculty, support staff, and students; managing program enrollment, administration, and human resources for the department; and coordinating with academic and non-academic departments. She will officially begin her duties in August.
Cain has taught microbiology, anatomy, and physiology at Ivy Tech since 2002; since that time, she has been promoted from adjunct lab instructor to associate professor. Prior to teaching at Ivy Tech, she owned her own business and held positions with Indiana Protein Technologies, Inc., Applied Laboratories, and Sherry Laboratories.
She is currently completing a doctorate program in adult education with Capella University; she holds a Master of Science in Biology from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, Illinois. She serves as a consultant with Assessment Technologies Institute and as a reviewer for Wolters-Kluwer Health, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins Publishers.
Cain is a member of Leadership Bartholomew County and has been selected as a member of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers in both 2005 and 2006. She has provided community service for numerous community organizations, including Columbus Regional Hospital, the Cheer Fund, and McDowell Adult Education Center.
