Free Class for Recent Graduates & GED® Recipients

Ivy Tech is again pleased to offer recent high school or home-schooled graduates and GED recipients a free class this fall semester, 2009. Fall classes begin on August 24. The following stipulations apply:

  1. The offer applies to 2009 high school or home-schooled graduates and GED recipients who graduated or completed a GED within the Columbus region. Our region includes Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, and southern Johnson counties.
  2. Students must indicate Columbus as their home campus in the Ivy Tech system.
  3. The offer applies to one class per student. Students who received a free class from a different free class offering are not eligible.
  4. The free class must be three or less credits.
  5. Non-credit classes are excluded from the offer.
  6. The free class must be taken from our region in the fall 2009 semester. The offer may be used for classes at our community sites and internet, webcast, interactive, or two-way video classes provided they originate from the Columbus Ivy Tech region. Classes originating from other Ivy Tech regions are not eligible.
  7. Students who have prior Ivy Tech experience while in high school or during the summer 2009 semester are eligible to receive a free class, but the free class applies to fall 2009 semester classes. The free class offering cannot be used for 2009 summer classes.
  8. Students are responsible for textbooks, class materials or consumables and any applicable fees. The free class offer covers tuition.
  9. Students whose tuition is paid in full by other sources are not eligible. The offer may be applied to any portion of tuition not covered by other sources such as grants, scholarships, or third party assistance.
  10. Students must meet any prerequisites for classes.
  11. High school graduates must provide either an official high school transcript or an Ivy Tech Graduate Verification form signed by an administrator at the high school from which they graduated. GED recipients must provide either an official GED score sheet or an Ivy Tech Graduate Verification form signed by an administrator at the center where they took the GED test.
  12. Students are required to complete all normal admissions paperwork to take classes.
