Ivy Tech-Columbus delivers Lean Six Sigma to Electro-Spec

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus is providing Lean Six Sigma training to forty employees of Electro-Spec in Franklin.  Electro-Spec is one of the leading gold, silver, nickel, and copper plating facilities in the United States, with a customer base including North America, Europe, and Asia.  The financial savings resulting from the training have been estimated $100,000, according to Terrill Paradise, Ivy Tech’s Senior Corporate Trainer and Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

Classes began on April 27 and will end on June 23.  Three projects are currently being examined, using the Lean Six Sigma process:  the elimination/reduction of rework on the gold plating process, saving a potential amount of $50,000; reduction in the handling of parts, saving a potential amount of $40,000; and increasing efficiency in the shipping process, for which no savings amount has currently been estimated.
