Ivy Tech-Columbus delivers Lean Six Sigma to Electro-Spec

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus is providing Lean Six Sigma training to forty employees of Electro-Spec in Franklin.  Electro-Spec is one of the leading gold, silver, nickel, and copper plating facilities in the United States, with a customer base including North America, Europe, and Asia.  The financial savings resulting from the training have been estimated $100,000, (more…)

Ivy Tech schedules placement testing dates for ESL Bridge Program

Placement testing dates have been established for the English as a Second Language Bridge Program at Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus.  The purpose of the new ESL Bridge Program is to provide academic preparation to individuals having limited English language proficiency.  The program will begin in the fall; the credit division begins on August 24, and the non-credit division begins on September 8.

Ivy Tech-Columbus summer enrollment up 42%

Enrollment for summer semester at Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus is up 42.6% compared to the first day of summer semester last year.

Ivy Tech’s first-day summer enrollment was 2,284 as the college began summer semester on May 26.  First-day enrollment for the summer term last year totaled 1,602.

The number of full-time equivalent (FTE) students is also on the rise, up more than 51% as compared to last summer term.  FTE for first-day enrollment this summer totaled 812.33 as compared to 535.43 last summer.

Chancellor John Hogan commented, “Ivy Tech is continuing to focus on providing programs needed by area residents; we are pleased that we are helping them meet their goals.” (more…)

Ivy Tech Community College summer enrollment up more than 33 percent

INDIANAPOLIS – Ivy Tech Community College’s statewide summer semester enrollment is up 33.5 percent compared to the first day of summer semester last year.

Ivy Tech’s first day summer enrollment numbers topped 48,629 students as the college began summer courses on Tuesday.  Enrollment last summer term totaled 36,416, an increase of more than 12,000 students.

The number of full-time equivalent (FTE) students is also on the rise, up more than 36 percent as compared to last summer term.

More progress on Franklin expansion project

The Franklin expansion project is on track; technicians are installing the heating and air conditioning ductwork. The majority of the interior walls have been installed.

Ivy Tech offers ESL Bridge Program

Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus will offer an English as a Second Language Bridge Program, beginning in the fall semester of 2009, for individuals wishing to learn the English language in order to be able to successfully attend college or to increase their employment opportunities. “There is an increasing need for speakers of many other languages to learn English in order to thrive in our community,” said Debbie East, program coordinator.
