Ivy Tech Community College is offering a Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) class tuition free as a result of a grant from the State of Indiana Department of Workforce Development received in 2008. The class, which normally costs $2300 per student, will be held from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm on Tuesdays, from February 10 through June 9, at the Columbus campus of Ivy Tech.
MSSC is a nationwide training program offered to provide a well-rounded knowledge of the modern manufacturing environment. It is an industry-based skills standard, assessment, and certification system for all sectors of manufacturing covering the four key areas of manufacturing, including safety, quality, production and processes, and maintenance awareness. MSSC issues a Recognition Award for successes in each of the four areas and a full MSSC Production Technician Certification for success in all four.
Ivy Tech Community College and MSSC have an exclusive agreement making Ivy Tech the exclusive provider in the State of Indiana of MSSC courses in colleges in Indiana. The College has unique expertise in advanced manufacturing and workforce certification through the curriculum it offers at 23 campuses and 25 service centers across the state.
